How to choose plinth lighting
Spotlights or strip. Plinth spotlights such as Halo TrioTone®, Luce TrioTone®, Stellar Pro™ and Iris™ give individual pools of light. For a continuous glow, fit LED strip in a plinth profile: see the plinth strip section below.
Power and control. Plinth lights run at 24V from a 24V LED driver. Add a PIR sensor so they switch on when someone walks into the room, or a remote or app from our lighting controls.
Plinth strip lights
LED strip gives an unbroken line of light along the plinth instead of individual spots. Accent™ is an angled aluminium profile made for 16 to 18mm plinth boards; it takes slim strips 5mm wide or less, such as Razor X 4mm free-cut COB strip, which cuts to the exact length of each run with no visible LED dots. Edge™ suits handleless kitchens and plinths with Razor X strip. Where no profile is needed, Polar X runs along the plinth on its own, and Viva 3™ is IP54 splash resistant for plinths where mops and spills reach. All run from the same 24V driver as the spotlights.
Kitchen plinth lights with sensor
A PIR sensor switches plinth lights on when it detects movement and off again after a set time, so they work as a night light for the kitchen without touching a switch. Wire the Titan+™ PIR Sensor between the driver and the lights, or use the Titan+™ Wireless PIR Sensor where there is no cable route. Both work with plinth spotlights and plinth strip.
Warm white plinth lights
Warm white (3000K) is the most popular choice for kitchen plinth lights, because it gives a soft, cosy glow at floor level. Halo TrioTone® and Luce TrioTone® switch between warm white (3000K), natural white (4000K) and cool white (5000K) on the light itself, so you can set warm white when you fit them. Stellar Pro™ adjusts from warm to cool white (2700K to 6000K) at any time with a CCT receiver or smart driver. Iris™ is natural white (4000K) only. Compare the options in our colour temperature chart.

Plinth and kickboard lighting FAQs
What are plinth lights?
Small 24V LED lights fitted into the plinth, or kickboard, at the base of kitchen and utility units. They give a soft glow at floor level and help with night-time lighting.
How do you fit plinth lights?
Recess the lights into the plinth board, or surface mount them where the light allows it, connect them with their daisy chain leads, and plug the run into a 24V LED driver. Mains connection to the driver should be done by a qualified electrician.
Do plinth lights need a driver?
Yes. Our plinth lights run at 24V and connect to a 24V LED driver. The Iris™ pack of 4 includes a Titan driver and a 3-pin plug.
Can I choose the colour of the light?
Yes. Halo TrioTone® and Luce TrioTone® switch between warm, natural and cool white. Stellar Pro™ is CCT, adjusting from warm to cool white. Iris™ is natural white.
Can plinth lights come on with a sensor?
Yes. A PIR sensor switches them on when someone walks into the room, which is useful at night. See sensors and control.
Can plinth lights work with a remote control?
Yes. Stellar Pro™ works with the CCT Receiver and Remote Control, or the Titan™ Smart Kinetic Driver and the free Link Sensio app.
Can I get a continuous line of light along the plinth?
Yes, use LED strip lights in a profile such as the Accent™ profile, made for 16 to 18mm plinth boards. See kitchen LED strip lights.
Are kickboard lights the same as plinth lights?
Yes. Kickboard and plinth are two names for the board at the base of kitchen units, so kickboard lights and plinth lights are the same thing.
